Donatello, in the fifteenth century, made the bronze statue of St. John the Baptist in the chapel of the same name. Michelangelo instead left us the four statues of saints on the Piccolomini altar. Nicola Pisano created, in 1265, the marvelous pulpit which is now located near the main altar. Bernini, in the 17th century, restored the dome and built the vow chapel.
