They are mostly Sienese masters. The only non-Sienese artist who worked on the floor is Pinturicchio, who at the beginning of the sixteenth century created Il Colle della Sapienza, or the fourth inlay of the central nave. Pinturicchio also frescoed the Piccolomini Library with the life story of Pius II, the Sienese Pope who died in 1464.
